Nalaine Morin - Associate

Nalaine is an experiencLaureen Whyteed metallurgist and environmental specialist in the mining sector whose career has spanned various mining and resource development projects across Canada. Nalaine was manager of the Tahltan Heritage Resources Environmental Assessment Team where she led the review of multiple environmental assessment applications and the development of processes for the including Tahltan knowledge in the environmental assessment and permitting processes for resource development projects in Tahltan territory.

During her time at Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting, Nalaine worked as a metallurgist in milling, smelting and hydrometallurgical operations and as a supervisor where she was responsible for the environmental water and air monitoring programs.

Nalaine’s skill set combined with being of First Nation descent enable her to marry both First Nation traditional knowledge and western science together in a way that bridges cultural understanding on both sides.  Nalaine has gained a national reputation for effectively managing complicated mining issues in a cross cultural setting, and is regularly invited to present her work at conferences.

Nalaine holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree from UBC, a Mechanical Engineering Technology Diploma from the British Columbia Institute of Technology, and is currently working on a Masters of Applied Science degree at UBC.
